TERMS & CONDITIONS

These Terms and Conditions govern all bookings, rentals, and services provided by Tokyo Extreme Drive (“Company,” “we,” “us,” “our”) to customers (“Customer,” “you,” “your”). By making a booking, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions in full.

1. SERVICES PROVIDED

Tokyo Extreme Drive provides the following services:

  • Self-drive vehicle rental

  • Guided driving tours

  • Online booking and payment only (no in-person bookings)
     

All services are subject to availability and may be changed or withdrawn without notice.

2. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

To rent or participate in a tour, all drivers MUST:

  • Be at least 23 years old

  • Hold a valid driving license issued in their home country

  • Hold a valid International Driving Permit (IDP) issued under the 1949 Geneva Convention

  • Present a passport

  • Meet all Japanese legal driving requirements
     

Failure to present the above documentation will result in immediate cancellation with no refund.

3. BOOKINGS & PAYMENTS

All bookings must be made through our website.

​

Payment Terms:

  • Full payment and any required security deposit must be paid in advance

  • Prices are listed in Japanese Yen (¥) unless otherwise stated

  • Additional fees may apply for late returns, vehicle cleaning, damage, fines, or losses
     

Deposits:

  • A refundable security deposit is required for self-drive rentals

  • No deposit is required for guided tours

  • Deposits may be withheld or deducted for damages, violations, or unpaid charges​

4. CANCELLATION & REFUND POLICY

Customer cancellations:

CANCELLATION TIMING             REFUND

More than 72 hours.                Full refund

24–72 hours.                          50% refund

Less than 24 hours.                 No refund

Company cancellations:

A full refund will be issued if the booking is cancelled due to:

  • Unsafe weather conditions

  • Vehicle mechanical failure

  • Operational issues caused by the Company
     

No additional compensation (hotel, transport, etc.) will be provided.

​

 

5. VEHICLE USE RULES

Vehicles must only be used for legal road driving within Japan.

 

The following are strictly prohibited:

  • Off-road driving

  • Racing or competitive driving

  • Track use

  • Reckless operation

  • Subleasing or allowing unauthorized drivers

  • Driving while intoxicated

  • Towing or commercial usage
     

Violation may result in immediate termination with no refund.

6. INSURANCE & RESPONSIBILITY

All vehicles are insured.

​

However, the Customer is responsible for:

  • A ¥300,000 insurance deductible in the event of damage, accident, or loss

  • Any traffic fines, penalties, or legal consequences

  • Theft or negligent damage
     

Insurance coverage becomes void if:

  • Traffic laws are violated

  • Documentation is invalid

  • The vehicle is misused

  • Unauthorized drivers operate the vehicle
     

 

7. ACCIDENTS & DAMAGES

In the event of an accident:

  • The Customer must notify police immediately

  • A police report must be obtained

  • The Company must be informed without delay
     

Liability will be determined based on the official police report.

If the Customer is found at fault:

  • The Customer bears all damages not covered by insurance

  • The deductible applies in full
     

 

8. LIABILITY DISCLAIMER

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

The Company is NOT liable for:

  • Personal injury

  • Emotional distress

  • Delays

  • Loss of personal property

  • Missed flights or accommodations

  • Indirect or consequential losses
     

Participation is voluntary and at your own risk.

​

 

9. CONDUCT DURING TOURS

During guided tours, participants must:

​

  • Follow all instructions of guides

  • Drive responsibly

  • Maintain public safety

  • Obey all laws
     

The Company reserves the right to remove any participant at any time for safety or misconduct, without refund.

10. DATA PROTECTION & PRIVACY

Personal data is processed only for:

  • Booking management

  • Legal obligations

  • Customer communication
     

We will never sell personal data to third parties.

Images and videos taken during tours may be used for marketing unless you opt out in writing.

11. FORCE MAJEURE

The Company is not liable for failure to perform due to:

  • Natural disasters

  • Government restrictions

  • Mechanical failures

  • Pandemics

  • Traffic disruptions

  • Weather conditions

12. TERMINATION OF SERVICE

We may refuse or terminate service if:

  • You breach these Terms

  • Documentation is invalid

  • You pose a safety risk

  • You behave inappropriately

  • You are unable to arrive for a booking on time
     

No refunds will be issued in such cases.

13. GOVERNING LAW & JURISDICTION

These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan.
All disputes shall be handled exclusively in the courts of Tokyo, Japan.

​

 

14. ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS

By booking, you acknowledge:

  • You have read, understood and accepted these Terms

  • You accept all risks associated with driving in Japan

  • You agree to full financial responsibility if at fault
